Roller pulley shafts support the drum support roller wheels inside a commercial dryer and transmit the weight of the rotating drum to the machine frame. The shaft allows the roller wheel to spin freely while remaining fixed in position.

When to replace the shaft
Replace the roller shaft when it shows signs of wear grooves, corrosion or deformation at the roller contact points, or when the roller wheel no longer spins freely on the shaft even after the roller itself has been replaced.

Shaft only vs complete roller assembly
Where the roller wheel and bearing are in good condition but the shaft is worn, replacing only the shaft is a cost-effective repair. In most commercial dryer models, the shaft can be replaced without removing the drum.
